Michael
R. Biggs

Mr.
Biggs was born in Wichita, Kansas, on April 21, 1952 and was admitted
to the Kansas bar in 1979. His formal education includes degrees
from the University of Kansas (B.S., 1974; M.B.A., 1976) and Washburn
University School of Law (J.D., with honors, 1979). While attending
law school he was active in Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity and served
as Associate Research Editor, Washburn Law Journal. He is currently
a member of Wichita, Kansas and American Bar Associations, including
the ABA Business Law Section; and Forum Committee on Franchising. Mr. Biggs
is also a registered investment advisor.
A
frequent speaker and author, he most recently served as a Contributing
Editor for the ABA Forum on Franchising publication “Covenants Against
Competition in Franchise Agreements” (October 2002). He has lectured
repeatedly for the Kansas Family Business Forum, The Wichita State
University Fast Track MBA program, and The Center of Entrepreneurship’s
Your Future in Business Program on a broad range of topics, including
franchising, the sale & purchase of businesses, and corporate
governance & management succession issues. Mr. Biggs occasionally
authors articles for the Wichita Business Journal.
Before co-founding Biggs Law Group, L.C., Mr. Biggs managed the Business
Law Practice Section of Klenda, Mitchell, Austerman & Zuercher, L.L.C.
He is the former Chairman of Wichita Technology Corporation, a
private-public for-profit organization designed to assist entrepreneurs
in their attempts to commercialize promising technologies.
His
civic activities include, or have included, being an executive
board member of the Greater Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce, an advisory
board member of the Kansas World Trade Center, and a board member
of the Wichita World Trade Council.
